Swim Safety Tips for Summer Fun

Splish, Splash, and Stay Safe!

Summer means sun, swimsuits, and splashing around—but before we jump in, let’s talk safety! Whether your little one is heading to the pool, lake, beach, or waterpark, it’s important they know how to stay safe while still having fun.

At Bright Littles, we believe the best way to prepare kids is through open, honest conversations. That’s why we’re diving into swim safety basics and sharing conversation starters to help you guide these important chats.

☀️ Top Swim Safety Rules for Kids

  1. Always swim with a grown-up.
Even strong swimmers need adult supervision.

  2. Walk—don’t run—by the pool.
Slippery surfaces + running = ouch!

  3. Follow the rules of the pool or beach.
Read posted signs and listen to lifeguards.

  4. No diving in shallow water.
Always check the depth before jumping in.

  5. Wear a life jacket near open water.
Especially for boating, lakes, or rivers.

  6. Know your limits.
Take breaks, drink water, and don’t swim too far.

  7. Use sunscreen.
Reapply often—yes, even when you're wet!

  8. Don’t play rough.
No dunking, holding others underwater, or roughhousing.
