Setting intentions with your littles

Sometimes it feels like you don’t have enough time in the day for yourself let alone your kids. A friend gifted me the five-minute journal and it has reminders for me that self-love and connection can be as easy as five minutes. Every day I have spent time in the morning and evening setting intentions, writing an affirmation, and putting energy into the day and the take away from the day. Since I have started to bookend my day with positivity, I feel a little bit better. I see what I did do vs what I did not accomplish!

I realized this is important for us to do as a family, and again, it’s easier than you think!

While we are getting dressed in the am or I am making breakfast, I am asking what is her intention for the day, what’s an affirmation about herself, and what’s something she’s going to give her all to today. At night we recap the day with a great rose analogy, again shared by another great mama in my life.

  • Rose: What was great about today?
  • Bud: What are you looking forward to?
  • Thorn: What was hard today?
  • Thorn to rose: What ideas do you have to turn that thorn into a rose

The takeaway is you don’t need an hour to connect and be positive, and sometimes, it’s the little thing. This week, I have been grateful to get to bed before 10 pm and that my daughter only had two meltdowns before bed. Ha! It’s the little wins sometimes, amirite?
