Let’s Talk Pronouns

Teaching Kids to Speak with Kindness and Confidence 💬🌈

At Bright Littles, we believe words matter—especially the ones we use to talk about ourselves and others. One of the simplest yet most powerful ways to raise kind, inclusive kids? Teaching them about pronouns!

So, what are pronouns?

Pronouns are the words we use to refer to people when we’re not using their names—like he, she, they (and more!). Everyone has pronouns, and using the ones someone shares with you is a big way to show respect.

Think of it like this: you wouldn’t call someone by the wrong name on purpose, right? Pronouns work the same way—they help us recognize and honor each other’s identities. 🌟

Why it matters 🧠❤️

Talking about pronouns:

🧠 Builds empathy and self-awareness
🤝 Encourages respect for others
💪 Boosts confidence in expressing who you are
🏫🏡🎉 Helps create inclusive spaces at school, on the playground, and at home

How to Get Started with Pronouns 💬

Here are some simple ways to start:

🔹 Share and ask kindly.
You can say, “Hi! I’m Sara, and I use she/her pronouns. What pronouns do you like to use?” It’s a friendly way to learn about someone and show them you care!

📚 Read books with all kinds of people.
Storytime is a great way to see how everyone is different—and awesome! Some characters might use he/him, she/her, or they/them pronouns. Talk about what makes each one special.

Ask questions and be curious.
It’s okay if you don’t know everything. Asking questions helps you learn—and learning is superpower stuff! - Tools to continue the conversation!

❤️ Be kind, always.
If someone tells you their pronouns, listen and use them. It’s a brave and awesome way for someone to share who they are—and you can show love just by getting it right.

A little conversation can spark BIG understanding 💬🌟

Kids need a safe space to ask, learn, and grow. By starting these conversations early, you're raising a human who sees, hears, and respects others for exactly who they are.

Let’s raise a generation that leads with kindness—one pronoun at a time. 💕
