🌈 Let's Celebrate Pride ❤️

🌈 Hey Austin! Today we’re celebrating Pride as a city! 🎉

This is a perfect opportunity—no matter where you are—to talk with and teach our kids (and ourselves) about Pride. Here are some prompts and facts to get the conversation started:

What do the Pride flag colors mean?

❤️ Red: Life

🧡 Orange: Healing

💛 Yellow: Sunlight

💚 Green: Nature

💙 Blue: Harmony

💜 Purple: Spirit

The First Flag
In 1978, a designer named Gilbert Baker created the first Pride flag. He wanted a symbol that would represent love and equality for everyone. The flag had 8 colors: pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, indigo, and violet. 🌟

Why is love and acceptance important?

Love and acceptance are important because they help everyone feel happy 😊, safe 🛡️, and included 🤗. When we show love, we are kind to others and care about their feelings. Acceptance means we respect people for who they are, even if they’re different from us. Just like you want to feel liked and valued, others do, too. When we love and accept others, we make the world a better place 🌍 where everyone can be themselves and feel good about it. 🌟

2️⃣ Speak Up Against Discrimination
If you witness or hear discriminatory language or behavior, don’t stay silent. Kindly but firmly challenge it, whether it's in your social circle, workplace, or online. 🗣️✋

3️⃣ Support LGBTQ+ Organizations
Get involved with or donate to local and national LGBTQ+ organizations that work towards equality, provide resources, and support the community. 💖🏳️‍🌈

5️⃣ Listen and Offer Support
If someone shares their LGBTQ+ identity with you, listen without judgment, offer support, and respect their privacy. Let them know you’re there for them and value them as they are. 👂🤝

6️⃣ Create Inclusive Spaces
Whether at home, school, or work, advocate for policies and practices that ensure LGBTQ+ people feel safe and welcome. This could include using inclusive language, ensuring representation, or supporting LGBTQ+ inclusive education. 🏠📚

7️⃣ Amplify LGBTQ+ Voices
